Field Aviation's aerospace parts manufacturing division, located in Calgary, Alberta has acquired a Stratasys, Fortus 400mc 3D printer.

The addition of the 3D printer will enable Field Aviation to manufacture REAL Parts™ in-house using multiple production grade thermoplastics such as Ultem 9085, a durable and flame resistant FAA approved material.

Robin Jenkins, director of business development for Field Aviation's parts manufacturing division said, "The acquisition of our first 3D printer is part of our strategic initiative to continually evolve, strengthen and diversify our already extensive capabilities to meet the ever increasing needs of our customer base in this highly competitive segment of our business. It is a user configurable, high performance machine which will enable us to create rapid prototypes, manufacture tooling, and replace hard to manufacture aerospace components with 3D printed parts that can be lighter and stronger than many traditional materials or processes. The incredible synergy between Field Aviation's aircraft modification and parts manufacturing experience allows us to assist customers to investigate how this modern technology can best serve them".

Field Aviation's aerospace parts manufacturing division offers a range of sophisticated tooling and machining capabilities and employs some 100 personnel and occupies 110,000 sq ft in a modern facility adjacent to Calgary's international airport.
