Field Aviation's development of the Bombardier/DeHavilland Dash 8 into missionized aircraft started in the early 1990’s.

Since then Field Aviation has developed Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA’s), Intelligence, Surveillance & Interdiction (ISR) Aircraft, Flight Inspection Aircraft, Multi Mission (MMA) Aircraft including Electronic Warfare (EW) and VIP Transport versions of all variants of the Dash 8. In addition to the missionized aircraft, Field Aviation has developed several STCs applicable to many different aircraft systems thus adding even greater versatility to this aircraft for our commercial or special mission customers. We have over 50 Special Mission DHC-8 operating throughout the world and our STCs can be found on hundreds of commercial airliners. Noted certified operational modifications have or can be easily integrated to other large turboprops types such as the ATR42/ATR72, Fokker 27/Fokker 50/Fokker 60 or Saab 340/Saab 2000.
